History of the National Association of Entrepreneurship Students, OAU.
The National Association of Entrepreneurship Students Obafemi Awolowo University (NAESOAU)is a vibrant student-led organization within the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Development Studies (IFEDS). Dedicated to fostering innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurial excellence, NAESOAU provides a platform for students to enhance their business acumen, access mentorship, and collaborate on groundbreaking ventures. Through workshops, networking events, and practical experiences, the association empowers its members to transform their ideas into impactful enterprises and emerge as leaders within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. NAESOAU traces its origins to 2017 when it was established as the Association of Entrepreneurship Students (AES)under the administration of Badmus Taiwo Oluwaseun. Its foundation was deeply inspired by a story of resilience and determination. In its early days, five students—one male and four females—found themselves without a clear academic path after their initial departmental placements did not align with their qualifications. Undeterred, they united to turn their challenges into an opportunity. This group laid the cornerstone for IFEDS at OAU and the establishment of AES. Despite being the smallest institute on campus at the time, these pioneers worked tirelessly to carve out a niche, fostering a culture of perseverance and innovation. Their efforts created a sense of community and a platform for entrepreneurial growth. The association grew as more students, including Direct Entry students, joined the fold, establishing AES as a hub for creativity and entrepreneurial skill development. In 2024, under the administration of Oyewole Samuel Segun, AES underwent a significant rebranding to become the National Association of Entrepreneurship Students Obafemi Awolowo University (NAESOAU). This milestone transition was approved by the past two presidents, Badmus Taiwo Oluwaseun and Olasubomi Samuel, marking a new chapter for the association. The rebranding symbolized a broader vision, reflecting the association’s growth and commitment to uniting entrepreneurship students under a national body. Today, NAESOAU continues to thrive as a community dedicated to nurturing innovative thinkers and business leaders. With a focus on hands-on experiences, strategic collaborations, and capacity-building programs, the association empowers its members to lead, create, and excel in the ever-evolving world of entrepreneurship. From its humble beginnings to its dynamic present, NAESOAU remains a beacon of innovation and resilience, inspiring students to turn their ideas into impactful enterprises.
